Earthship Seattle Visitor Center Fundraiser Dance Party

Earthship Seattle and Uniting Souls are proud to bring you: EARTHSHIP

On June 9th 2017 we will celebrate life and sustainability at this fundraiser event. Earthship Seattle has joined forces with the Cascadia Now! Non profit organization for a 501c3 sponsored project. We are raising the money to build a Global Model Earthship here in Seattle to be used as a visitor center. Earthships are radically sustainable off grid homes that are made from repurposed materials. If you don’t know what an Earthship is exactly, you will by the end of the night. We will have a packed line up of your favorite local DJ’s in the main room. In addition to some great music, we will be highlighting art that is made from trash in the small room. There will be informational booths for you to learn more about Earthships and Biotecture. Also you will pick up the skill of turning your own trash into building materials.

Several times throughout the night you will notice models on the main stage wearing the latest in trash fashion. We encourage you to wear your favorite upcycled fashion as well. There will be a contest/prize for the best item.

The proceeds from this night’s event will go into the fund to complete our mission of building this visitor center.

Silent Auction & Movie Screening

Earthship Seattle and Cascadia Now! have joined forces to build a living breathing Earthship in the city of Seattle. With 501c3 sponsorship we are going to embark on the journey of fundraising, permitting, and building a Global Model Earthship to be used as a visitor center. If you want to learn more about what an Earthship is, this is a great opportunity to do just that. We will be screening an entertaining documentary about an Earthship build. We are gathering donation items that will be auctioned off at the screening. If you are interested in donating a tax-deductible item for the auction please let us know. All of this fun is taking place at a favorite watering hole and community gathering place the Rebar. There will be a full bar for your drinking pleasure. We look forward to sharing our passion with you.

If you’re new to all this, then keep reading:

The Trash Studio is an Earthship inspired tool shed which will act as the first demonstration of Earthship principles in Seattle.

It’s the first step toward showing the community and the local authorities that you can build cheap, super sustainable buildings that reuse trash and turn it into beautiful healthy buildings for the future.

This first project is critically important because it’s also acting as a test which will eventually help people in the greater Seattle area know how to design for our climate and how to get building permits for Earthships.

The building will also be used to demonstrate and teach sustainability and Permaculture in the years to come.

The Trash Studio is not a full on Earthship. An Earthship is a set of 6 principles: building with recycled and natural materials, passive heating and cooling, rain water harvesting, renewable electricity production, in door food production, and contained sewage treatment.

The Trash Studio is not implementing the Earthship principles about electricity, food, or sewage. It’s partially implementing the Earthship principles of passive heating and cooling, and rain water harvesting. It is implementing to an extreme the Earthship principle about recycled and natural materials. As a matter of fact, we have used absolutely no money on the build so far, and instead have been relying on volunteer work, various local gift economy networks, and creativity to turn trash into building materials.

Seattle Meetup! (Capitol Hill)

A Taste of Phase 2

Community, Earthships, Music, Love

Tues 3/24 @ 6-7:30pm (Capitol Hill Library)

We’ll be meeting up to discuss our interest in Earthships and the ways in which we can help each other realize our goals of building Earthship structures. Zarna and Roxanne will host.

Our community continues to grow. With the “Trash Studio” build in Columbia City edging closer to completion, Earthship Seattle is looking at ideas for new projects so come share your thoughts and possibilities! Do you want to learn more about solar panels? Do you want to learn more about catching rainwater and installing a cistern? Do you already know a community that is looking for help with their sustainable construction and might be interested in the possibility of Earthships?

Join us to learn what you can do to advance the cause of sustainable artistic creative housing in Seattle!
