Earthship Seattle Meetup (in Seattle)

Join us at this unique waterfront location in Ballard for a BBQ and open discussion about Earthships. We will get you all up to speed on the current projects we have going on. When you arrive look for the gate with the Cascadia flag on it, and you’re there. There is plenty of parking to be had. We are actively looking for volunteers, so please bring your visions, skills, and passion to the party. Also, bring something to grill and something to share. This is a BBQ!

Workshop @ Natural Mystic Festival 2017

Earthship Seattle is proud to be doing a workshop at the Natural Mystic Festival. Join us the weekend of Aug 4th ticket info is listed in the event. Courtney Skony and Jamie Owens will be taking you down the rabbit hole of Earthships and sustainable living. At this workshop, you will learn about a less than zero carbon footprint off grid house called an Earthship.

We will carefully go over the 6 principals of Biotecture:

  1. Thermal/solar heating and cooling.
  2. Solar & wind electricity.
  3. Contained sewage treatment.
  4. Building with natural and recycled materials.
  5. Water harvesting,
  6. Food production.

We promise to show you lots of pictures of Earthships from around the world. Then we will have a question and answer time. After which we will teach you how to turn your household trash into building materials. Then we will have a creative conversation about the things we can build with our upcycled building materials. We are most excited to network with you about our current big project. To build a living breathing Earthship here in Seattle. We have 501c3 sponsorship and are not afraid to use it. First, we need the land. Then we will order the custom designs from Biotecture Headquarters. Next, we permit this beautiful structure. Then, at last, we build it! Please join us Cascadians! We look forward to sharing our knowledge with you.

Jamie Owens is one of the project directors on the Earthship Seattle Visitor Center team. She helped to found the organization Earthship Seattle in 2012. Jamie has a strong understanding of the systems and principals that make an Earthship structure what it is. She had lead countless workshops and demonstrations over the years. Most recently she went to Taos NM Biotecture headquarters, where she was able to ask the legendary Architect Michael Reynolds a burning question. “Is it possible for an Earthship to work in Seattle?” “Yes” is the answer. She is driven and inspired to build a living breathing Earthship to be used as a visitor center. Spreading awareness, and clear the way to a new way of living. Commissioning the perfect Earthship design for a Seattle climate. Jamie and her partners Courtney Skony, and Emily Zupon joined forces with the Cascadia Now organization for 501c3 sponsorship. They are raising the money to do this project. Jamie dreams of having her own Earthship in the not too distant future.

Seattle Meetup! (Capitol Hill)

A Taste of Phase 2

Community, Earthships, Music, Love

Tues 3/24 @ 6-7:30pm (Capitol Hill Library)

We’ll be meeting up to discuss our interest in Earthships and the ways in which we can help each other realize our goals of building Earthship structures. Zarna and Roxanne will host.

Our community continues to grow. With the “Trash Studio” build in Columbia City edging closer to completion, Earthship Seattle is looking at ideas for new projects so come share your thoughts and possibilities! Do you want to learn more about solar panels? Do you want to learn more about catching rainwater and installing a cistern? Do you already know a community that is looking for help with their sustainable construction and might be interested in the possibility of Earthships?

Join us to learn what you can do to advance the cause of sustainable artistic creative housing in Seattle!
