Garbage Warrior

Earthships are a radically sustainable form of building that incorporates many principles such as using trash to build, thermal mass heating, and on-site food production. There are Earthships all over the world, in all climates, but none close to Tacoma – yet.

Join us for a FREE movie screening of the documentary Garbage Warrior to learn more about Earthships and their founder, Mike Reynolds. . Plus, there will be builders available in the audience to talk about a potential site in this region.

Tacoma Sustainability Expo

Tacoma Sustainability Expo

This is a FREE community event!

Please join us for the 8th annual Sustainability Expo, the perfect opportunity to celebrate and learn about resources for sustainable living in the South Sound region.

The Expo allows you to connect with more than 75 individuals and agencies addressing sustainability needs in our community – including community groups, businesses, nonprofits, and others that offer sustainable goods, services, and knowledge.

Participants at this family-friendly event will be able to interact with vendors, shop at a mini Farmers’ Market, exchange goods at a Book-Movie-Music Swap, hang out in the Kids’ Corner, and participate in workshops on LED Lighting, Square Foot Gardening, and Saving our Salmon.

Come learn about green construction, local food and gardening, transportation choices, energy conservation, community building, and cost-effective sustainability practices. Leave feeling empowered to live a more environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable lifestyle.

Last year 950 people attended – help us reach more people by bringing a friend!

Visit the Expo website for more information, including vendor registration:

We need people to help out with things like raffle-prize distribution, Kids’ Corner crafts, and vendor set-up. Please sign up to volunteer here:
